It’s inevitable for any business. You will, at some point, have to dispose of hardware. The problem of disposal is a big one. Many companies will either throw old hardware away or store it in a closet somewhere. Neither of these approaches are very good.
You have 3 options:
1.
Recycle: This will cost you. £6 per monitor and £6 per laptop
2.
Sell it: If your hardware still works, you can list it on sites like
eBay. But you probably don’t have the time for this, and old hardware generally doesn’t sell for much
3.
Donate it: Charities like
Computer Aid International refurbish your old computer and send them to developing countries. You can also hand it to a local youth club or charity. Again, this takes time and effort, which you probably don’t have.
So, what’s the solution?
At Digital Group, we have teamed up with various charities both on the Isle of Man and in developing countries. Any hardware we receive will end up in the hands of these charities, giving people and businesses the opportunity to get online and develop skills they might not normally be able to afford to do.
What hardware do we accept?
- PCs
- Laptops
- Monitors
- Servers
- Phones
- Printers
- Networking Equipment
Why should I do this?
- You help save the environment by not throwing your hardware to the landfill.
- It gives your PCs etc a second life.
- It helps people and businesses who can’t afford these items (even old hardware)
- It saves you paying to dispose of equipment
- You could earn from this.
What’s the next step?
If you have hardware laying in your office, gathering dust or have recently upgraded and not sure what to do. Drop us a mail and we will come to your office/house/work and collect it.
For items such as old PCs and monitors, there is generally very little value, if any in them. But for items such as photocopiers, servers and networking equipment, we might be able to pay you to take them away!
